About Me

Hello, my name is Wyatt Berka. I was born in Brenham, Texas on the 30th of January 1979. I graduated from Somerville High School in 1997, and I still live in Somerville, which is about 15 miles North of Brenham. I’m currently attending Blinn College in Brenham as a physics major, and then the plan is to attend the University of Houston eventually. Hopefully before I die of old age.

I know hating Texas is all the rage now, and I sometimes hate it myself, but Texas is my home. With that said, I am not your typical Texan. I don’t listen to country music or wear a cowboy hat. I’m not a religious zealot–you could call me an atheist, but I prefer the term irreligious. I’m not a Republican nor am I a gun aficionado. I do like beer, and I do drive a truck. I even have some Confederate flags. Not because I’m racist, but because I’m something of a vexillologist–that’s a fancy word for a flag nut.

I have a weird infatuation with the color green. I love green. My truck is green. The sheets on my bed are green. I wear green underwear. Hell, even my eyes are green. Besides my love for green stuff, my interests include music, movies, working out, swimming, walking, camping, photography, stargazing, reading, writing, and anything science-related, especially physics and astronomy. And, if you haven’t already noticed, I’m into conlanging, that is, constructing my own language. Yeah, I know, it’s a weird hobby, but it’s more popular than you realize. I’m also a gearhead. I love taking stuff apart and seeing how it works. Clocks, engines, computers, oh my! This is partly why I conlang. What better way to see how a language “works” than by making your own?

What else can I say about myself? Besides my green eyes, I’m 5′11″ (180 cm) and weigh 170 lbs (77 kg). I have light brown hair. Well, the hair I have left is light brown. Yes, I am going bald. I started to lose my hair in my early 20s, and, yes, it does suck. Interestingly enough, my hair loss seems to bother me more than it bothers anyone else. Or so I am told. I’m into piercings and tattoos. My earlobes are stretched to 14 mm, and I have a Prince Albert. I have two tattoos: green (of course!) flames on my left leg and a biomechanical half sleeve on my right arm, which is still a work-in-progress. Oh, yes, and I’m gay. Sorry girls. ^_^

It is really difficult for me to pick a favorite band. I listen to Bowling for Soup, the Offspring, MxPx, Social Distortion, Green Day, Rammstein, Oomph!, Third Eye Blind, Good Charlotte, and Blink-182. Movie wise, I love sci-fi and horror, especially sci-fi. Yes, I watch Star Trek. Some of my favorite movies include War of the Worlds (the old one!), Independence Day, Jurassic Park, and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I’m also a huge fan of the Three Stooges. I can’t get enough of these guys.
